  • Original language description

After the year 1990 the crucial changes in the composition of sheep breeds have occured in the Czech Republic. The number of sheep reduced from 430 thousand in 1990 to 84 thousand in 2000, but slow revival started in 2001. The woole breeds have been substitued by breeds with meat and milk production. As well, the number of breeds of the combined production has almost doubled (57 %) since 1990. One of these breeds introduced recently in the Czech Republic was Romney marsh sheep. The objective of this article is to publish the results of performance of this breed kept on pasture for all year in marginal areas (average altitude 700 m) of the Czech Republic. As parameters of performance, we choose the number of new-born lambs (2,170 + 0,222) and the numberof weaneb lambs (1,734 + 0,217) per lambed ewe as influences by year, ram, the age of ewe and the order during the birth. We also observed average birth weight (4,7 kg) and average weight at 100 days of age (30,4 kg + 1,0 kg). We evaluat
