Plant community structure under different grazing intensities

  • Original language description

The effect of intensive and extensive grazing intensities on pasture plant species and community structure was investigated in July and October 2003. Vegetation was classified by height into three different patches: intensively grazed, moderately grazedand non-grazed. Plant specie composition (PSC) and standing biomass yield (SBY) in every patch was determined. At first sampling, treatments had a significant effect on the number of plant species (NPS) of intensively and moderately grazed patches, and the SBY was affected only in intensively grazed patches. At second sampling, the NSP was significantly different in all patches where the non grazed patches had the highest NPS (10) and the SBY was not affected only in intensively grazed patches.
