Binding forms of risk elements in root fractions of Leuzea carthamoides (Willd.) DC

  • Original language description

Content of risk elements (As, Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn) was determined in root dry matter and individual fractions of root dry matter released by sequential extraction procedure (used solvents: Petroleum ether; ethyl acetate; butanol; methanol; methanol+H2O; H2O;methanol+H2O+HCl; non extractable residues. Biologically and therapeutically active compounds are present in the first four fractions. The results showed low contents of measured elements in these fractions. Partly, biologically active compounds can be contained in the fraction methanol+H2O as well. In this fraction, low content of risk elements was also confirmed. L. carthamoides biomass can be used as dry drug for preparing tea. The determination of risk elements in the H2O fraction was reasonable inthis context. Contents of Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn were determined in the range 4.1-6.3% of total content; only As represented 29.3% from total content. Majorities of all elements except As, were found in the fraction methanol+H2O+HCl. The domi
