Calorific value of underseeding intercrops in maize
Original language description
The dynamics of above-ground biomass production, calorific value in dry biomass and total energy production of underseeding intercrops in maize were observed in the year 2004. The studied variants: 1. Trifolium repens L., 2. Lolium perenne L., Lolium multiflorum Lamk., 4. control variant. Growing of underseeding intercrops have not induced significantly reduce of maize yield compare to control treatment. Early sowing of L. perenne contributes to greater above-ground biomass production in contrast to other underseeding intercrops species. The calorific value in dry matter of underseeding intercrops ranged from 17.75 to 18.37 kJ.g-1. There was statistically significant difference (0.05) among observed species. Total energy production of underseeding intercrops particularly depends on yield biomass. This study showed that is important to select suitable underseeding intercrops and choice its optimal term of sowing.
