Calorific value of stubble field intercrops

  • Original language description

The above-ground biomass production, calorific value in dry biomass and total energy production of stubble field intercrops were observed in the year 2004. The field plot experiments were established at the Research station in Červený Újezd, Czech Republic. The studied intercrops were: Trifolium incarnatum L., Lupinus albus L., Lolium perenne L., Lolium multiflorum Lamk., Sinapis alba L., Phacelia tanacetifolia Bentham, Brassica napus L. The calorific value in dry matter of intercrops ranged from 17.09to18.78 kJ g-1. The highest energy content was obtained in L. perenne and L. multiflorum. Total energy production of stubble field intercrops particularly depends on the biomass yield. This study showed that it is important to select suitable intercropswith respect to climatic conditions of particular area.
