Influence of row covering with non-woven textile on tubers quality in early potatoes

  • Original language description

In the three-year field trials the effect of row covering of early potatoes on selected factors of tuber quality has been evaluated. Experiments were performed at the Přerov nad Labem locality in the Czech Republic with Adora and Impala varieties. Basedon the statistical evaluation of the results it is evident that row covering with the fleece positively influenced dry matter, nitrates and ascorbic acid content during harvest 60 days after planting (in variant with the fleece nitrates content was by 39.5 % lower, dry matter content was by 6.3 % higher and ascorbic acid content was by 3.8 % higher compared to control variant without the fleece).
