Feed quality of wheat (Triticum aestivum) from ecological and conventional farming
Original language description
We performed a study in which wheat cv. Estica, cultivated under similar conditions in two farming systems: ecological and conventional, was evaluated by the means of feed value and nutrient content. The experiment was conducted on rats, which were fed by both conventional (EstC) and ecologically (EstE) grown wheat. Feed quality was evaluated by growth- and balance experiments. Content of essential nutrients of tested grains were on similar levels, except for the fibre (44 g/kg for EstC and 33 g/kg forEstE), which was considered as significant nutritive factor, participating on its feeding value. The crude protein was 128 g/kg for EstC vs. 103 g/kg for EstE and the brutto energy values were more or less similar for both samples (16.9 KJ/kg for EstC and 16.4 kJ/kg for EstE). It has been determined that the biosynthesis of significant nutritive proteins in the grain depends on factors that are related to the way of cultivation. All parameters measured except the biological value (54.3 f
