    Altogether 134 species (including 7 still undescribed species) have been found in Podyjí NP (= 46 % of the total known Czech fauna of the family if described species are counted only). Most of the species found were Temperate and North European in distribution (34 species, 27 %), European (33 species, 26.2 %) and Temperate European (32 species, 25.4 %), much smaller proportion of species belonged to Temperate and South European elements (14 species, 11.1 %) and only a very few species represented broadly distributed species (Palaearctic: 6, 4.8 %, West Palaearctic: 4, 3.2 % and Holarctic: 3, 2.4 %). In comparison with most other families, species of Empididae with rather limited ranges strongly prevailed. Two species (E. concolor and R. tipularia) arerecorded here for the first time from the Czech Republic, the occurrence of E. albifrons is confirmed here; a further 20 species are the first records from Moravia (D. oblongoguttata, E. dispar, E. laeta, E. laminata, E. planetica, E. sem
