Qualitative parameters of vegetables fertilized with conventional and non-conventional methods

  • Original language description

Fermented pig slurry was used for vegetables fertilization as a replacement of industrial mineral fertilizers. This use of agricultural wastes is according to the EU legislation (96/64/EC). Tomatoes were grown in vessels; knob celery was grown in the field. Besides yield parameters and microbiological assessment the following parameters were monitored: contents of dry matter, vitamin C, nitrates, heavy metals, carotenoids, glycoalkaloids, nitrogen compounds and titratable acidity. According to the obtained results, fermented pig slurry seems to be a suitable alternative to the mineral way of fertilization.
