Evaluation of performance traits in the genetic resource of the Old Kladrub horse

  • Original language description

Performance evaluations of 372 horses of the Old Kladrub breed within the period of 1995?2004 traits were used. For the analysis a linear model with fixed effects and the least squares method were used. These effects and interactions were analysed: variety, stud, sex, year at birth, age at classification, sire line, interaction variety x stud and sire line x stud. The subjects of the analysis were 15 traits. The traits can be chosen as selection criteria when the differences between trait means of sirelines were significant and highly-significant and if interactions do not exist. Above that the circular mating of sire lines is an important tool for the conservation of the diversity within the breed and for retaining specific performance traits for next generations.
