    Evaluated data for 10 breeds of beef cattle consists of 20 277 records for birth weight (W0), 15 598 for weight at age 120 days (W120), 14 452 for weaning weight (WW), all recorded in field test, and 2 819 records for average daily gain (ADG) in performance test stations. Genetic parameters were estimated using four multi-trait animal models. Models were compared using Akaike's information criteria and residual variance. Within breed heritability was in all models for W0 around 0.24, for W120 around 0.17, for WW around 0.17 and for ADG around 0.29. All criteria favored the model with permanent environmental effect of animal.
