Effect of milking vacuum and overmilking on selected milking characteristics
Original language description
The influence of milking vacuum and milk flow level when detaching the cluster on milking performance were studied in four separate experiments using different vacuum and milk flow at the time of detachment. The MIXED procedure of SAS software was used to test treatment effects on total milk yield, quarter milk yield, machine on time, and peak flow rate on the level of cow as well as on the level of udder quarter. Based on results obtained from measurements of observed milking characteristic we can conclude that vacuum and milking with or without overmilking influence machine-on time and peak milk flow on both cow and quarter levels (P < 0.05?0.001). Total and also quarter milk yield was not affected significantly. Results emphasized the necessity of proper milking management and adjustment of milking machines according to tight relationships among udder, its health, milk yield, and quality of milk produced. These interrelationships directly affect income as well as the whole economy o
