Effect of water deficit and application of 24-epibrassinolide on gas exchange in cauliflower plants
Original language description
In the greenhouse conditions, an experiment was initiated to monitor the long-term effect of water deficit and effect of the application of 24-epibrassinolide on photosynthesis and transpiration rates by cauliflower, cv. Chambord F1. The experiment plancontained 4 groups. First group was the control group, irrigated with 25% of full water capacity (FWC); second group was a stressed group (20% of FWC) throughout the vegetation period. In third and fourth groups, 24-epibrassinolide in the concentration of 10-9 M was applied to the control plants and stressed plants at the stage of 6-7 leaves. The water deficit provable reduces the rate of gas exchange in cauliflower. The application of 24-epibrassinolide in the control plants reduced the photosynthesisand transpiration rates. The application of phytohormones on stressed plants increased the photosynthesis and transpiration rate in comparison with the untreated stressed plants.
