Garlic sulfur compound SAC has ability to decrease oxidative stres of porcine oocytes
Original language description
In vitro cultivation systems are characterized by increased levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS). S allyl cysteine (SAC) is a sulfur compound with antioxidative properties naturally occurring in garlic (Allium sativum). In the study, the capacity of SAC to reduce levels of ROS in maturing oocytes is demonstrated. The level of ROS was significantly decreased after 24 and 48 h cultivation of oocyte without a disturbance of the normal course of meiotic maturation. SAC could be used as an antioxidative supplement to culture media.
