For technical practice it is very important to take into account the optimal choice and utilisation of materials, design of machine parts and technology of their production. In the paper the authors solve this problem giving priority to an economical approach using cost analysis. An example of cost evaluation of plough share and chisel quality shows practical application of the developed methodology. Implementation of this methodology in the industry can save materials and money.
