NOx reduction from biomass combustion by flue-gas recirculation

  • Original language description

This article concerns with possibility of reducing NOX formation at small scale biomass boilers by flue gas recirculation. The aim is to determine the influence of different recirculation levels r and excess air ratios λ to the levels of NOX and COin flue gas. Measuring was carried out on 25 kW automatic pellet boiler Verner A25, tested fuels were wooden pellets and rye grain. The results has confirmed the expectation and a positive effect of recirculation was proven. Best results regarding the levels of mentioned pollutants were achieved with recirculation r = 0,3 and excess air ratio λ = 1,3 x 1,4 for wood, respectively λ = 1,5 x1,6 for rye grain.
