Influence of flue gas recirculation on performance of a small-scale biomass boiler
Original language description
Flue gas recirculation as a primary deNOx measure is usually applied only in large scale facilities. However, more tight emission regulations coming into force recall a need for emission reduction also in small scale boilers. In this paper, a study has been performed in order to determine effect of flue gas recirculation on combustion of different kinds of biomass with variable fuel nitrogen content. In the scope of the study was representative of wooden biomass with low fuel N content up to agricultural residues with 10 times higher fuel N. I total four types of pellets were tested, all in forms of standardized pellets. A 25 kW pellet boiler was used as testing facility. At similar power load level, recirculation of 0, 10, 20, 30 and 40 % of flue gasinto the both primary and secondary combustion air was tested. Measured parameters were of influence of FGR on NOx concentration in flue gas, unburned carbon content in ash, CO concentration in flue gas and efficiency of the boiler. Also
