Psychological and Pedagogical Evaluation of the Learning Outcomes of Engineering Students in Times of Pandemic Transformations

  • Original language description

In recent years, there has been a significant change in teaching methods, including higher education, which particularly impacts technically oriented study programs. This has a notable effect especially on technically oriented fields of study through which universities produce professionals for engineering and related technically oriented industries. This paper describes the implications of the changes in educational activities in universities with regard to the pedagogical and psychological risks arising from these changes. Changes in teaching and learning in technically oriented fields have led to greater digitalization and, in particular, have limited students’ practical experiences. From a pedagogical and psychological point of view, these changes have had a largely negative impact on students’ fears of successfully completing their studies. This paper discusses an analysis of student performance in a technically oriented course taught in undergraduate degree programs. The conclusions of the paper are supported by data from student questionnaires and data from university information systems.
