A new DTA (Digital Terrain Analysis) computer program DEMETERR 1.0 (an acronym of Digital Elevation Models and their Elementary TERRain analysis) is presented. Apart from computation of the general terrain attributes (terrain slope, aspect, horizontal and vertical curvature etc.) it contains a number of algorithms for the most of the basic DTA tasks in hydrological applications, such as removing of closed depressions (often called pits or sinks), treatment of flat areas, drainage direction assignment, contributing areas and topographic index computation, watershed delineation and river network extraction. The available methods cover the most of algorithms described in literature, and the program enables one to try different methods for solving the sameproblem and then to compare results and to choose the best method for his purpose. The program has a user friendly graphical interface with possibilities of viewing and saving text and graphic outputs from particular procedures.
