    This paper deals with the dynamics and disintegration of the coarse woody debris in mountain spruce forest ecosystem in the National Park Bohemian Forest ? area of the Trojmezná old-growth forest. The amount and quality status of the coarse woody debrissampled on the eighteen established research plots were found highly variable. The volume of the coarse woody debris recorded on research plots ranged from 40 m3 per hectare to 190 m3 per hectare. Higher amount of the coarse woody debris was found on theplots situated in lower parts of the Trojmezná old growth forest compared to plots situated in higher and edge parts. The most abundant decomposition classes of the coarse woody debris found on the research plots were classes that refers to the degree of decomposition two and one.
