Hereditary melanoblastoma in miniature pigs and its successful therapy by devitalization
Original language description
Applying selective breeding of pigs affected with malignant melanoma, the MeLiM strain was established (Melanoblastoma-bearing Liběchov Minipigs). Melanoma in this strain shows a hereditary occurrence. Original surgical technique was applied in more than40 pigs for melanoma treatment. Simple devitalization (ischemization) technique causes total destruction of melanoblastoma cells as well as all intact organ metastases.
