    The diffusion was performed at temperatures about 350 °C from erbium containing melts of nitrates. The amount of the incorporated erbium depended on the orientation of the crystal cut and also on the fact if the dissusion occurred as the simple interstitial process of if it was a combination of the former with ion exchange of lithium for erbium ions.
