Present status of high temperature superconducting materials
Original language description
The great progress has been made in all areas of high temperature superconductivity after their discovery in 1986. We will summarize what we know and do not know about the materials and physics, namely of the cuprate high temperature superconductors because of their higher transition temperatures [1]. There have been more than 150 high temperature superconducting non-intermetallic compounds discovered with a transition temperature (Tc) higher than 23.2 K, the highest temperature of superconducting intermetallic compounds prior to the discovery of MgB2. These compounds fall into the materials systems of cuprates, bismuthates, fullerites nad field-induced surface superconductors. Only cuprates and field-induced surface superconductors have a Tc > 77 K, the liquid nitrogen boiling temperature. The present records of Tc are 134 K and 164 K in HgBa2Ca2Cu3Ox at ambient pressure and under ~ 30 GPa, respectively. While no higher Tc has been attained since 1993, several new high temperature sup
