Ion-implantation into chromium doping silicate glass
Original language description
Luminescence around 1300 nm is required in photonics for lasers working in near infrared (NIR) region. For this application, luminescence ascribed to Cr(IV) exhibit suitable characteristics, however achievement of this emission in silicate glass showed complicated. Here we present a novel approach to this problematic, an ion-implantation of oxygen ions into the sodium-silicate Cr(III) glass and the study how this injection of oxygen affect the luminescence spectra. The composition of the glasses in ourstudy corresponds to higher optical basic silicate glasses. Developed materials were characterized compositionally, optically and the effect of ion implantation on luminescence properties was studied. Possible formation of Cr(IV) is discussed. We have proved that the O+ ion implantation may change the redox equilibrium in the sodium-silicate glass, moreover, due to special nature of the induced defects, it is possible to create and stabilized oxidation states which are rather exotic as,
