Blue WO2.98 prepared by plasma decomposition of ammonium paratungstate is slightly more photoactive than stoichiometric yelow WO3, the photoactivity of WO2.98 preparedby heating under argon is suppressed. X-ray diffractograms show that the heating of WO3 leads to the partial change of symmetry from monoclinic to orthorhombic
