Au+ implanted optical layers in glass
Original language description
High-energy ion implantation has been already established technique for fabrication of the optical waveguides and other integrated electro-optical structures in various materials. In this contribution we elaborated the procedures how to characterize notonly optical waveguiding properties but also their composition and bonding situations in the treated layers of the glasses. The optical layers were prepared by a 1.701 MeV ion implantation in soda-lime silicate glass with various implantation fluencies of Au+ (3.1015 and 1.1016 ions.cm-2). The obtained waveguides were characterized using dark mode spectroscopy at 671 nm to give information about optical properties (e.g., refractive index changes). Diffusion profiles of the implanted Au ions were investigated using the Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry. Structural changes in surface layer of as-implanted samples were measured by Raman Spectroscopy. The as-implanted samples were annealed in air at different temperatures (400 and 600
