Original language description
Imidazolines (4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazoles) form ribbon-like crystal structures constructed by self-assembly through hydrogen bonds. Protonated imidazolines bind anions in charge-assisted hydrogen-bonded networks with the cooperation of orthogonal ionion interactions. Water molecules in the chloride salt monohydrate link the ribbons through hydrogen bonds to form a 2D pleated sheet structure. The geometric properties of the picrate anion predetermine its possibilities for the formation of bifurcated hydrogen bonds and non-classical hydrogen bonds.
