    Properties of Natural and Synthetic Rubber Recycled via High-Pressure High-Temperature Sintering

  • Original language description

    Recycling possibilities of natural rubber (NR) and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) via High-pressure High-Temperature Sintering have been tested on model compounds vulcanized with various vulcanization systems. The model materials were ground and crumbs were compression moulded at high temperature (180-250 °C) and pressure (10 MPa) to form a new material. Tensile properties, hardness, network chain density have been determined and compared with those of the original materials. The recycling process is suitable for both NR and SBR cured with systems based on elemental sulfur while it is not suitable for systems with sulfur donor or peroxide.
