Preparation and properties of magnesium porous materials for medical applications
Original language description
Recently, the research of bone implants is focused on magnesium and its alloys. Its mechanical properties are close to them of natural bone, it is biocompatible and biodegradable and its corrosion products support growth of new bone tissue. Implementation of porosity into these materials compromises mechanical properties of the implant more closely to that of natural bone, allows flowing of body fluids to healing tissue and incorporation of new bone tissue into the implant. In this work, magnesium samples having porosity of 11, 14, 26, 29 and 44% were prepared and their microstructure and mechanical properties were studied.
