    Characterization of the system ceramic body - glaze

  • Original language description

    Glaze and engobe have not only aesthetic function but mainly improve ceramic body stability and its weathering resistance. To meet these requirements, it is necessary to evaluate complex glaze - ceramic body system. Selection of suitable glaze should bein accordance with the properties of whole system. The aim of this work was to introduce methods used for testing of glazes and to demonstrate laboratory tests on different types of glazes for ceramic porous body. The examination of laboratory prepared samples, which consists of characteristic parameters of the ceramic like bulk density, water absorption and apparent porosity. In addition, values of coefficients of thermal expansion were measured and thermal shock durability was evaluated.
