Distribution of Saturated Hydrocarbon Types in Middle Petroleum Distillates - Mass Spectrometry Methods Comparison Study
Original language description
Distribution of aliphatic and alicyclic hydrocarbon types in middle petroleum distillates can be determined by electron impact (EI) mass spectrometry (MS) methods. Several published studies document that the accuracy of MS methods is depended on the typeof the instrumentation and the calculation procedure used. In the present work, the comparison of the standardized as well as literature published MS methods is presented. The analysis of the selected samples of middle petroleum distillates was carriedout using a modern sector mass spectrometer and the Dynamic Batch Inlet System (DBIS). As regards the determined total content of saturated hydrocarbons, most of the used MS methods provided results well correlating with the results obtained by liquid chromatography. The comparison of the results obtained also showed a reasonable agreement in the determined total contents of aliphatic and alicyclic hydrocarbons for most of the used MS methods. However, the determined distribution of mono
