Adsorption study of arsenate on manganese dioxide nanosorbents in aqueous solution
Original language description
This study synthesised, characterized and comparated the adsorption properties of ?-MnO2 nanorods and ?-MnO2 nano-fiber clumps (birnessite) for the removal of arsenate As(V) from aqueous solution. Further these nanosorbents were characterized by scan electron microscopy (SEM). The surface area, pore size, pore volume and surface?s point of zero charge of two types of nanosorbents were also determined. The adsorption capacity of As(V) was found to be highly pH dependent. The adsorption of As(V) onto ?-MnO2 nanorods reached equilibrium more rapidly with higher adsorption capacity (19.41 mg/g) in compared onto ?-MnO2) nano-fiber clumps (15.33 mg/g).
