    We present a novel way to enhance the utility of the low cost readily available laterite adsorbent by incorporating the nanomaterials properties of ?-MnO2 nanorods into them, thus making the composite for the removal of the As(V) from the aqueous solutions. The adsorption capacity for As(V) was found to be highly pH dependent and the adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo-second-order rate equation. The Langmuir isotherm was found to be the best model to describe the adsorption of As(V) onto CL, MCL-Band MCL-I and the adsorption capacity for arsenic removal were 1.58 mg/g, 9.52 mg g.g-1 and 10.3 mg.g-1, respectively
