Biooxidation of sulphide in moderately aerated reactor
Original language description
Hydrogensulphide and sulphides can be biochemically oxidized in an oxic environment by different sulphur oxidizing bacteria. The presented study is focused on biooxidation of aqueous sulphides in aerated semicontinuous bioreactor with suspended culture. The efficiency of sulphides removal was influenced mainly by sulphide loading rate and aeration intensity. The results indicate that activated sludge can be used as a source of technical culture for inoculation of sulphide oxidizing bioreactor. The result of one year selective cultivation with sulphides was the suspended culture with sufficient sulphides removal rate 28.1 mg/g.h (S=, VSS) and a good sedimentation property.
