Biogas cleaning - H2S scrubbing and biooxidation
Original language description
Today, a wide range of physico - chemical or chemical technologies are available to remove hydrogen sulfide from biogas, but biological biogas cleaning, based on the activity of sulfur oxidizing bacteria, is relatively simple and also less expensive than the other technologies applicable. The process of H2S removal from biogas proceeds in two steps. At first, H2S from biogas is absorbed into a slightly alkaline washing liquid and subsequently oxidized in a bioreactor. Good results have been achieved both with oxygen as well as with nitrates serving as electron acceptors. In both cases, the efficiency of sulfide removal has reached 95% to 98 %.
