The role of phosphorylation for regulation of plant PIP2 dependent phospholipase D
Original language description
Membrane phospholipids are due to its position predestinated to mediate signaling on the cell interface and in fact some signaling cascades are triggered by activation of phospholipid cleaving enzymes such as phospholipases C, D and A2 yielding well-known second messengers as DAG, PA, LPA or IP3. Phospholipase D (PLD) liberates from its substrates phophatidic acid (PA) which consequently influences activities of another enzymes [1]. Although PLD was detected first in plants [2] today is much more knownabout biological roles and regulation mechanisms of this enzyme in animals. Partly it is caused by the fact that much more types of PLD exist in plants differing structurally and biochemically [3] than in animals. Phosphorylation of tyrosine is one of theregulation mechanisms described for human PLD1 [4]. We observed concentration dependent inhibitory effect of potato and wheat germ acid phosphatase on the activity of plasma membrane associated PIP2 dependent PLD from Brassica oleracea,
