Green synthesized noble metals for biological applications
Original language description
Due to their biocompatibility gold, silver, palladium and platinum nanoparticles might show an exceptional performance in several biomedical applications, such as drug delivery and anti-microbial agents. However, comprehensive study including antibacterial and cytotoxic effects of the family of noble metal nanoparticles (NMNPs) has not yet been published. In this work, we prepared NMNPs and compared their bactericidal effects with their cytotoxic properties. All metals were efficient in suppression of S. epidermidis in contrast to ineffective inhibition of E. coli, which was partially suppressed by AgNPs. We have shown the cytotoxic potential decreases in the order of Pt, Ag, Pd, AuNPs.
