Fractionation of Flaxseed Musilage Polysaccharides by Chemical and Separation Methods
Original language description
Flaxseed mucilage (FSM) is a viscous material from a seed hull released when seeds become wet. FSM is mainly the complex of weakly-acidic arabinoxylan (AX) and acidic fraction. In addition, raw FSM may contain some proteins and phenolics. In present study FSM fractions were obtained by precipitation with the copper(II) and CTAB reagents and by union exchange chromatography on DEAE-Trisacryl column. Chemical composition, structure and rheological properties of obtained fractions were characterized. The results were discussed in terms of the integrity of FSM complex.
