Original language description
Control functions of the INFORS HT bioreactor Labfors 5 are described and discussed concerning their application for aerobic cultivation of dense cultures of microbial cells. A practical example was demonstrated cultivation of Pichia pastoris, facultative methylotrophic yeast producing under specific conditions recombinant proteins. A strategy of feeding the repressive and inducing substrates was tested aiming at the optimal process parameters. A similar example of computer-controlled cultivation is that of the yeast culture of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The cultivation is performed in a fed-batch system and under special conditions can lead to an increased content of intracellular sterol - ergosterol (provitamin D2).
