The scientific program of the National Institute of Virology and Bacteriology at the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague, aims at several aspects of Retroviridae, Flaviviridae and Coronaviridae replication cycle and also at the multidrug-resistant bacteria. The fundamental research topics include allosteric modulation of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase SARS-CoV-2; mechanism of nuclear transport and uncoating during retroviral replication cycle; lipid membrane binding and RNA packaging process of flaviviral nucleocapsid-like structures formation; and determination of antibiotic resistance mechanism in clinical isolates as well as the inhibitors of efflux pumps.
