Original language description
Sorption of organic vapors (benzene, toluene, cyclohexane, hexane and heptane) in polymer membranes LDPE (low density polyethylene) and PEBA (polyether block amide) at 25 °C was studied. The glass sorption apparatus with Mc Bain spiral quartz balance enabled to follow the sorption kinetics of organic vapors. The appropriate diffusion coefficients D of organic vapors were calculated from experimental data by 3 different methods and polymer-solvent interaction parameters were calculated by Flory-Huggins equation. Both polymer membranes, which has been used in this work, are commercial products. Low density PE membrane BRALEN FB2-30 (thickness 50 mm) is produced by Slovnaft, a.s., Slovakia and polyether-block-amide membrane PEBA 4033-PE (thickness 120 mm)is produced by GKSS, Germany. PEBA membrane contains supporting polyester lattice which does not participate in vapors sorption.
