Modelling of Multiproduct Batch Processes
Original language description
The multiproduct batch process can be modelled in Witness simulator by means of discrete or continuous simulation elements. Considering the way of description of batches, discrete elements are sufficient to model them. The apparatuses are modelled as machines and products as passive parts. They are waiting until machines move them out of or into other machines according to input or output rules. The simulation model is designed so as it could adapt automatically to any production plan that is given as asequence of product batches. All the varying parameters are advisable to import into the model from an Excel spreadsheet. The variable values are read at the very beginning of the simulation run. The Gantt chart of the process course must to be created as an integral part of the model. The basic principle of Gantt chart creation consists in application of a multiple buffer, where parts coloured according to the actual states of apparatuses are stored in.
