Use of discrete event systems as means of building computer models of batch plants
Original language description
Batch chemical plants can be modelled with advantage as discrete event systems. Advantages of building such models are shown on an example of batch production of pharmaceutical ferrous chloride. Simulation and optimization experiments with the computer model enable: to identify internal contradictions in the service manual, to suggest modifications of processing of batches so that the requirements of the service manual are kept, to carry out different operations with different processing times in apparatuses by steps, to allocate workers to different operations in the same apparatuses in different numbers and qualifications, to itemize operations so that workers operate them only in case of need, to set up different types of shift operation and quantify the optimum numbers of workers. The contribution furthermore deals with possibilities of use of discrete and continuous simulation elements, compares them with each other and analyzes their advantages and disadvantages.
