Use of Manpower and Calendar Time in Discrete Event System Model of a Pharmaceutical Batch Line
Original language description
Batch processes can be modelled as discrete event systems. Workers with different qualifications are besides raw materials, operating chemicals and apparatuses important sources for batch lines. Moreover these lines do not run in continuous physical timebut in discrete calendar time. Working shifts are modelled by means of logical simulation elements: shifts, subshifts and periods. The approach was used in building of a model of ferrous chloride production line for pharmaceutical purposes. A number ofapparatuses are used repeatedly in different stages of production and in different way. Both management and modelling of production line become complicated. Building the model several serious incorrectnesses in service manual were identified and repaired. In addition the numbers of necessary workers for different shift schedules were determined by means of simulation experiments. The model was developed in visualized and animated environment of the Witness 2008 simulation program.
