FEMLAB - numerical software for 2D and 3D modelling in chemical engineering
Original language description
FEMLAB is an interactive environment for modeling and simulations of scientific andengineering models based on partial differential equations. A sophisticated geometry canbe modeled in 1-D, 2-D or 3-D by the CAD drawing tools available in FEMLAB. A set of primitive solid objects, such as circles, rectangles, blocks and spheres is provided, and their combinations into composite objects using Boolean operations can be performed. FEMLAB uses triangular or tetrahedral shaped meshes that are automatically generated to fit required geometry. The FEMLAB contains a set of solvers for various PDE prob-lems. Once FEMLAB has solved given problem, a large number of post processing and visualization abilities can be used to present results - streamlines, contours, colored sur-faces and vector field plots are available in 2-D, while in 3-D, slice and surface plots, 3-D conical arrows and tubular streamlines are useful visualization tools. These possibilities in 2-D and 3-D dimensions are illustrated
