Oscillatory reaction mechanisms can be categorized according to characteristic types of positive and negative feedback loops involved. These loops as well as conditions for the associated oscillatory instability are identified by using stoichiometric network analysis. It is shown how categorization is done by taking glycolytic oscillations as an example.
