Original language description
The subject of this contribution is the determination of the complete suspension state for mechanical mixing of solid particles in liquid, and investigation of the power consumption for achieving this state. One part of experiments was carried out in thecylindrical, pilot-scale, flat-bottomed mixing vessel fitted with four standard baffles. The second one was carried out in the same mixing vessel but the vessel was fitted with four arrow-headed baffles. The purpose of this work is to compare the advantages of arrow-headed baffles with the standard baffles from the point of view of the impeller suspension efficiency. The six pitched-blade impeller was used in suspension experiments with both types of baffles used with the aim to determine the optimum impeller size and the optimum off-bottom clearance for the complete suspension.
