    ELECTROOSMOTIC FLOW MEASUREMENT

  • Original language description

Transport characteristics of DC electrokinetic flow in polystyrene microfluidic chips are studied. Two methods of the electrokinetic transport quantification are used: (i) undirect measurement of the transport time based on the electrolyte conductivity variation, (ii) direct screening the electroosmotic flow by a fluorescence probe. The electroosmotic mobility coefficient and the zeta-potential in the microfluidic apparatus are evaluated. Problems of the bubble formation and their effects on the measured transport characteristics are discussed. Mathematical models of DC and/or AC electrokinetic pumping are also presented.

    Měření elektroosmotického toku

  • Czech description

Transportní charakteristiky DC elektrokinetického toku jsou studovány v polystyrenovém mikročipu. Dvě metody kvantifikace elektroosmotického toku byly použity: (i) měření transportního času nepřímou vodivostní metodou a (ii) metodou přímou pomocí fluorescenční sondy. Zjištěné hodnoty elektroosmotické mobility a zeta-potenciálu jsou prezentovány společně s matematickým popisem elektroosmotického toku.
