Rotating biological contactor for decolorization by Irpex lacteus
Original language description
Residual dyes from textile industry represent one of serious environmental problems of today. Textiles dyes are resistant to common waste water treatment procedures, and are hardly removable. In this work we aim to construction of rotating biological contactor using immobilized mycelium of Irpex lacteus. Irpex lacteus produces enzyme complex suitable for degradation of various substrates and is widely used for degradation experiments in flasks and TBR reactors, owing to its ability to decolorize variousdyes from water. Only few works are focused on its usage in rotating biological contactors. Our experimental rotating biological contactor (tank dimensions 30x15x15 cm) is constructed from polycarbonate and Teflon. 12 Filtren foam discs are mounted in the reactor. Organic dye was chosen for degradations, Remazol Brilliant Blue R (RBBR). An ability of RBC to degrade consecutive batches of RBBR at concentration 150 mg.L-1 was successfully tested. It was found that degradation rate increas
