We present 2D mathematical model of electrodialysis unit, which predicts liquid and current flow distribution, potential distribution etc. and identifies possible critical states of the system. The model is based on local balances of electric charge, volume and amount of substance of the dissolved salt in diluate and concentrate. The model is both pseudo-homogeneous and anisotropic
